KERATOMETER READINGS

The keratometer readings (central corneal curvature) are important to determine:

the amount of corneal toricity

if a rigid lens will correct the 
astigmatic error or if there will 
be any residual astigmatism.

the base curve of the first 
diagnostic lens (especially rigid 
lenses)

if there is any induced change in 
the corneal curvature due to the 
wearing of the contact lenses 
(for comparison at later visits)
